What Hidden Catch does
Hidden Catch helps people spot hidden traps in contracts before they sign. You can photograph or upload contract pages. A full document may include up to 60 photos.
The app uses artificial intelligence to create a plain-English report. The report may include an overall verdict, important clauses, direct quotes, key dates, and money-related terms. You can also ask follow-up questions through Ask Hidden Catch and view your past scan history.
What stays on your device
Your documents, photos, extracted text, reports, answers, and scan history are stored only on your device. Ktizo Labs’ backend does not receive them.
This local data stays on your device until you delete the Hidden Catch app.
How AI processing works
There is one important exception to on-device storage. To create a report or answer a question, the text extracted from your document is sent through an intermediary processing service to a third-party AI analysis provider. The AI response is then returned to the app.
Ktizo Labs’ backend does not receive or store the document text or the AI response. However, outside AI services do process the document text. Do not scan a document if you do not want its text processed this way.
The AI analysis provider and intermediary processing service handle information under their own terms and privacy practices.
Information we collect
Ktizo Labs’ backend exists only for the referral program. It stores:
- An anonymous device identifier.
- Your Apple account identifier, if you choose to sign in.
- Your 6-character invite code.
- Referral relationships, including who invited whom.
- Counts of completed first scans and purchases used to grant referral rewards.
- A last-active timestamp.
Sign in with Apple is optional. It is used only to give the referral program a real identity. Core app features do not require sign-in.
If you sign in, Hidden Catch receives the name and email address provided by Apple. The email may be a private Hide My Email address. The app also receives a signed account token. Tokens are stored in the device Keychain.
Apple handles purchases. RevenueCat verifies purchases and subscriptions. RevenueCat may process an anonymous app-user ID and purchase or renewal status. Ktizo Labs never sees your payment card details.
Apple’s systems may collect standard device diagnostics and crash reports.
How we use information
We use referral records to create invite codes, connect inviters and invited users, confirm qualifying first scans or purchases, grant promotional Regular Scans, prevent referral abuse, and maintain referral records.
We use Apple sign-in information only to identify a person for the referral program. We use anonymous purchase status to provide paid features and scan credits.
Promotional Regular Scans are free scan credits. They have no cash value. They are not payment for referrals and cannot be transferred.
Third-party services
- AI analysis provider: Processes extracted document text to create reports and answer questions.
- Intermediary processing service: Sends extracted document text to the AI analysis provider and returns the response.
- RevenueCat: Verifies App Store purchases and subscription status using an anonymous app-user ID.
- Apple: Provides optional Sign in with Apple, processes App Store payments, and may collect standard diagnostics and crash reports.
- Supabase: Hosts referral records only. Supabase does not receive document content, report content, or Ask Hidden Catch questions from Ktizo Labs’ backend.
What we do not collect
Ktizo Labs’ backend does not collect your documents, photos, extracted document text, reports, AI answers, or scan history.
Hidden Catch does not use ads or advertising trackers. Ktizo Labs does not sell personal information.
Data retention and deletion
Documents, photos, extracted text, reports, answers, and scan history remain on your device until you delete the app.
Referral records are kept while your account is active. To request deletion of referral records or other backend records connected to you, email support@ktizolab.com.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to ask what personal information we have about you, request a copy, correct it, delete it, or limit certain uses. You may also have the right to object to processing or request data portability.
To make a request, email support@ktizolab.com. We may need to confirm your identity before completing the request.
You can erase local Hidden Catch data by deleting the app from your iPhone. You can choose not to use Sign in with Apple and still use the app’s core features.
Children’s privacy
Hidden Catch is not directed at children under 13. Ktizo Labs does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, email us so we can review the request.
Security
Documents and scan history are stored on the user’s device. Signed Apple account tokens are stored in the device Keychain. Referral records are hosted by Supabase.
No method of storage or processing is completely secure. Do not scan documents that you do not want processed by external AI services.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Hidden Catch or its data practices change. We will post the updated policy at this URL and change the effective date.
